A Youth Talks To Her Drinking Buddies To Discover More Information About Alcoholism And Alcohol Abuse

Heather drank on a usual basis with her drinking pals. One Monday after school she started thinking about the amount of alcohol she drank during a typical week and the excessive and irresponsible drinking of her buddies. As a result of this, she politely asked all of her drinking pals the following question: "what do we really know about alcohol abuse, binge drinking, alcohol poisoning, and alcoholism? Stated more precisely, how much alcohol dependency and alcohol abuse information do we honestly know? For our young age, we clearly drink a lot and I am really beginning to wonder if all of us are headed for a life filled with alcohol-related difficulties when we become adults.

I think that we should go on the Internet and find out all that is possible about binge drinking, alcoholism, alcohol abuse, and alcohol poisoning. And then if we have any issues that we cannot understand after we do our Internet research, we can drive to the student health center at the college and ask Nurse Novak to help us understand what we cannot comprehend.

It should not come as a huge surprise that what Heather mentioned would lead to a heated discussion. For example, her best friend since her junior year in high school, Lisa, said that they are too healthy and too young to be concerned about hazardous and irresponsible drinking. Another classmate named Trevor reasoned that since most teenagers drink there is no solid reason why they should be any different. Another friend named Lily said that all she wants to do is to have fun drinking with her pals. And still another drinking pal named Lawrence in reality agreed with Heather primarily because both of his parents abused alcohol and both of his parents had a history of alcohol related problems.

Heather openly mentioned to her classmates that she understood everything that they had said but that involving oneself in abusive and irresponsible drinking at such a vulnerable age in reality cannot be very healthy or something that contributes toward developing a meaningful life. When two or three of her drinking pals asked what kind of alcohol problems Heather was referring to, Heather articulated the following: alcohol-related problems like alcoholism, alcohol-related traffic accidents and fatalities, and alcohol poisoning (which can be fatal in some instances) and alcohol-related diseases such as cancer, heart disease, and cirrhosis of the liver.

When Heather then mentioned that abusive and excessive drinking typically results in relationship, legal, financial, and school problems, some of her drinking buddies finally began to understand how wide-ranging and how debilitating careless and excessive drinking can be. Undeniably some of her friends became more open and started to tell how these alcohol dependency and alcohol abuse effects had negatively affected their parents and some of their friends.

After under scoring some of the alcohol dependency and alcohol abuse problems that are related to abusive and irresponsible drinking, the majority of her drinking friends seemed to agree to the idea about getting information on the web. They were, however, cautious about discussing their drinking circumstances with any of the teachers at school. As Heather thought about this she told herself, "at least they want to learn more about their abusive and irresponsible drinking. This is an excellent start."
